Spooky Cute Donuts! Halloween Confetti Baked Donuts Recipe

This time of year is my favorite for baking and making all the festive treats! There are SO many cute and fun things you can bake and create with  your kiddos! I get so inspired by all types of things I see online and in the craft stores, my mind kind of goes crazy, haha! We will be making and baking all the things from now until Christmas and I'm so excited to share with you so you can make some fun memories with your families as well. Some things are super simple too, I know not everyone enjoys baking like I do. So we kicked off "spooky month" with these festive confetti sprinkled baked donuts! How fun are these for a Sunday morning breakfast with your little ones?! I know my boys sure had fun mixing up and decorating these yummy donuts!

Baked donuts are actually pretty simple, quick, and delicious! You probably even have all of the ingredients you need to make them in your kitchen already! I chose to use nutmeg to give them a little taste of Fall since they are Halloween themed. You could probably use any similar spice, like I'm sure cinnamon would be equally delicious!

Also, can we talk about these Halloween pajamas for a minute, how stinking cute are these?! Like I said, I get inspired by all types of things and when I saw these I knew they matched one of the Halloween sprinkle mixes I have from Sprinkle Pop shop! So I decided to make donuts as our first festive treat of the season because it was just too perfect of a match not to! I got them here, and they come in toddler and big kids so all of the kiddos can match! Also, if you read my last post on Lenny's 3rd birthday party you know my boy loves him some donuts so it was just meant to be!

So back to the donuts...they only take about 30 minutes to make! Once you have all of your ingredients mixed together, they only take 10 minutes in the oven. Perfect quick breakfast for hungry little bellies! Even my boys were excited when they heard how quick it would be...

 As seen here! Lol.

We got our sprinkles from Sprinkle Pop Shop which has thee absolute cutest sprinkles I ever did see! The mix we used for these donuts is called Monster Mashup and they are my favorite out of the Halloween ones they carry. The little ghost is my fave, he is so adorable, and then the pumpkin, and Mummy (which sadly got eaten before we got to decorating, thanks to Royce) are all super cute too! I love how a lot of their mixes use different sized and textured sprinkles, it makes treats look extra special! So for these donuts I filtered out some of the bigger pieces to save for the decorating and folded in the smaller sprinkles in the batter to get the "confetti" when you bite into them.

  • 1/4 cup milk

What to do...

1. Preheat the oven to 350.

2. Spray your donut pans with your cooking or baking spray so they will not stick.

3. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, granulated and brown sugar into your mixing bowl and whisk together.

4. In another bowl add milk, egg, yogurt and whisk until smooth. Then add in the vanilla and butter and whisk all together.

7. Transfer the batter to the donut pan filling each cavity about 3/4 full.

8. Pop into the oven and bake for 10 minutes.

9. While the donuts are baking you can mix up the glaze by adding the milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar into a bowl and stir until all ingredients are blended.

10. Remove donuts from oven and let cool.

11. Drizzle the icing onto the donuts using a spoon.

12. Decorate with sprinkles while the icing is still wet otherwise they will not stick.

13. Enjoy!
